Career lines are the ones people most want to be told about and most often confuse with each other. Opportunity, recognition and mastery are three different things.

Why there is no universal list

The cities that are good for careers in general are not a mystery — they are the large expensive ones with the most of your industry in them. That list requires no astrology at all.

What a chart can add is the distinction between kinds of professional year: a place associated with doors opening, a place associated with being seen, and a place associated with getting properly good at something.

Those three run to different longitudes for every person, which is why this page names the lines rather than the destinations.

The lines associated with career

Four lines carry most of what astrology associates with career. They are not interchangeable, and the one people ask for is rarely the one they are describing.

What these lines look like in real cities

A concrete version, since the abstract one only goes so far. These are not recommendations — your career lines run somewhere specific to your birth moment, and across everyone alive they fall roughly evenly across every longitude. There is no shortlist that applies to a whole population.

What is worth reading is the combination. The same line through an easy, inexpensive city and through a fast, expensive one describes two different years. If one of yours does fall near a place below, this is the kind of thing it may describe.

What actually decides the answer for you

  • Where these lines actually fall for you — which needs your birth time, because two of the four are calculated from it.
  • Which stage you are at. The Jupiter answer and the Saturn answer suit opposite years, and picking the wrong one is the most common mistake here.
  • Whether the industry is there. No line puts a film industry in a city that does not have one.

Every line above is a guess until you know where your own ones are. The full set of city guides covers each place line by line.
